The primary focus of this project is to make the villages self-sustainable model, through this initiative promoted Green Shakthi Village and build water security to sustain climate change in the villages at Gummidipoondi block, at Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu. Under this environment Initiative constructed 79 bio-gas plants for the individual households to sensitize the village about the use biofuel as an alternative to fossil fuel.
1 pond was renovated in Thandalacherry Village Panchyat, its helps to enhance livelihood support services like Irrigation, drinking water for catlle’s, replenish the ground water of Open well and bore wells in the radius of 10 km and we can see the visibility within 1km of radius. Around 1000 households will get the benefit out of this. Thandaalcheery village panahcyat has taken the initiative to remove the juliflora of the barren common land in vicinity of the pond to convert as social forest with the purpose of helping environment, social and rural development. Tree Plantation with Fencing on Bund of the Pond and Channel was done in this pond.
Additionally based on the need of the local schools are supported with infrastructure development i.e. 8 Rainwater Harvesting, 4 Hand Washing station, 6 Sanitation structure, 2 Incinerators and 3 Anganwadi also supported with furniture materials.
10 Vermi composed model was established in the project villages. 3 local panchayat was provided with E-cart vehicle for waste management segregation.
